Shivangi Sharan
Shivangi is a Research Associate at Digital Futures Lab. Her interests lie at the intersection of tech, society, and public policy. At DFL, her work focusses on Responsible AI in healthcare, and on capacity building for organisations developing AI tools for social impact.
Prior to joining DFL, Shivangi received her Masters in Public Policy from the University of Cambridge. She graduated with a distinction on her Masters thesis, which examined the impact of Digital Public Infrastructure on women’s social and economic inclusion in India. As part of her course, she undertook a work placement at Better Society Capital, the UK’s leading social impact investor, based in London. She formulated a Responsible AI impact investment framework to help guide the company’s investment strategy for emerging AI technologies in financial inclusion.
Earlier, Shivangi worked as the Policy Community Lead at Swasth Alliance, a non-profit leveraging digital technologies to improve healthcare outcomes. She anchored policy research and collaboration among field experts for the Health Claims Exchange, which is key digital public infrastructure for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in India. While at Swasth, she served as a Fellow with The Lancet Citizens’ Commission on Reimagining India’s Health System, in collaboration with Harvard University. As part of the Citizens’ Engagement work stream, she oversaw communications for a national survey of Indian doctors’ self-perceptions in achieving UHC. She holds a BA (Honours) in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University.
Shivangi enjoys reading non-fiction, pop culture trivia, and baking. Based in Goa, she is a reluctant runner who also loves taking long walks and hiking as a means to explore new places. Yoga and strength training, however, remain her first loves.
