DFL co-hosts Conclave on Strengthening Human Capital for the AI Era

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply embedded in governance and public service delivery, building AI-aware and AI-capable institutions is no longer optional—it’s foundational.

On December 19, Digital Futures Lab and Centre For Responsible AI (CeRAI), IIT Madras co-hosted the Conclave on Strengthening Human Capital for the AI Era, bringing together policymakers, researchers, educators, industry leaders, and civil society to examine how India can embed AI literacy, responsibility, and leadership across education and government systems. This was an official Pre-Summit event towards the AI Impact Summit in early 2026.

We partnered CeRAI, IIT Madras, and with the support of Google and IndiaAI for one of the two key themes of the Conclave: Building AI leadership within the public sector.

Founder and Executive Director Urvashi Aneja moderated a fireside chat with Vidhya Srinivasan (Google) and Prof. Balaraman Ravindran (Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, IIT Madras) on fostering AI leadership in government.

This was followed by a closed-door roundtable with senior officials, academics, and practitioners to identify concrete training needs and curriculum priorities.
